Friends Long ago I was a regular practitioner of Indian classical music. However just because of Busy Schedule I could not Continue my Practice further and I shifted to Keyboard Playing.
What I have experienced in my past days is, breath control is of prime importance for effective Singing.
Singing needs proper breath control as well as depth in the voice.
Today , I shall tell you an effective and amazing Pranayama that works wonderful in having a perfect control over the breath and deepening the voice. 
I assure, practicing it properly and regularly will surely add considerable bass to the voice and will make it attractive. It also has numerous of other benefits.
Please practice it for 10 minutes and you can feel the difference within a week. 

What is Bhramari Pranayam or humming bee breathing technique..??

Bhramari Pranayam also referred to as humming bee breathing technique. The name of this Pranayam originates from Sanskrit word Bhramar that means bumblebee. It is one of the yoga Pranayam’s – breathing techniques. Pranayam is a yogic technique which relates to breathing and concentrating the mind. Pranayam controls the energy within the organism, in order to restore and maintain health and to promote evolution. Through regular practice is helps in mediation.

How does Bhramrai help?

By the vibrations induced by Bhramari, the cerebral cortex sends impulses directly to the hypothalamus, which controls the ‘Pituitary’ gland, the master of all glands. The resonance of the brain’s metaphysical thinking is taken out and this enhances capacity of brain.
There was a study conducted at Department of Physiology, Nepal Medical College, Jorpati, Kathmandu, Nepal on “Immediate effect of a slow pace breathing exercise Bhramari pranayama on blood pressure and heart rate”.
The study was carried out to evaluate the immediate effect of Bhramari pranayama, done for 5 minutes, on heart rate and blood pressure. Initial heart rate and blood pressure of volunteers were recorded. After 5 minutes of this exercise, the blood pressure and heart rate were recorded again. Both the systolic and diastolic blood pressure were found to be decreased, with a slight fall in heart rate. Fall of diastolic pressure and mean pressure were significant. The result indicated that slow paced Bhramari pranayama for 5 minutes, induced parasympathetic dominance on cardiovascular system.

How to practice Bhramari Pranayam : Technique

  1. Sit in Padmasana or Sukhasana. If you have problem in sitting you can alternatively  do the Bhramari Pranayam in standing position or while sitting on a chair. Just ensure that your back is straight.
  2. Place your index fingers on your temple. Your middle finger on your tear gland. And rest of the fingers on your face close to each other. Your thumb should be placed on your ear cartilage.
  3. Ensure that you are not putting your fingers inside your ear but on the ear cartilage, to prevent hearing outside sound when you practice humming.
  4. Inhaling – While you inhale fill your diaphragms with air all the finger will be in relaxed positions while inhaling
  5. Exhaling – As you exhale slowly through your nostrils, produce sound of the humming bee through larynx (sound box). Keep reciting “OHM” in the mind and release your tension.
  6. You can also make a low-pitched sound but it is a good idea to make a high-pitched one for better results.
  7. While making the humming sound, keep your mouth closed.
  8. Breathe in again and continue the same pattern for desired number of times. 4 times for beginners.
  9. Return to original position & gently open the eyes.
